​Blue Star Recyclers - EZ Electronics Recycling

After almost a year of collaborative work between Blue Star Recyclers and Rotary District 6440 clubs we launched a new service called EZ Electronics Recycling, which provides at home pick up service for residents. Now Chicago NW suburban residents can receive Blue Star’s certified electronics recycling service at their doorstep.
Seven Rotary clubs donated funds to help Blue Star purchase a new van to launch the service, including Glenview Sunrise, Dundee, Buffalo Grove, Barrington Breakfast, Lake Zurich, Libertyville, and Long Grove/Kildeer/Hawthorn Woods.
Special thanks go to Suzanne Lyhus with the Glenview Sunrise Rotary Club, who was instrumental in coordinating Rotary’s involvement in the project. We also wish to thank outgoing Rotary District 6440 Past District Governors Suzanne Gibson and Lyle Staab, who actively supported the project across the district.

Celebrate Membership Growth Through Community Service
with Alex Johnson

Alex Johnson is a Business Coach in Plano, Texas, and second-year president of Plano West Rotary Club in District 5810-Dallas, Texas metro. Johnson coaches’ entrepreneurs by helping with accountability and organization to scale their business and have more free time. He enjoys applying his business skills to increase Rotary service and engagement as the Zone 25b / Zone 29 Innovative Club Advocate appointed by the Rotary International Board of Directors.

Johnson is the recipient of numerous Rotary awards including Outstanding Club President, Membership Recruitment, Rotarian of the Year, and District 5810 Club of the Year, Rotary Citation and #1 Club in District per capita Annual Fund giving from The Rotary Foundation. Plano West Rotary is the Fastest Growing Club in North America. It tripled its membership to majority women, people of color, and under 50 by implementing the Rotary Action Plan with 75 service projects last year and averaging 6 projects a month today.
